First day of dashboard week we practiced using Alteryx and Spotify API to retrieve data for Tableau visualization. I will skip the process of API connection since some of my workmates have already posted blogs about this. You can check out Ryan’s blog for some API tips.
This blog will be more how to get embedded Spotify tracks into Tableau. By clicking the share button in Spotify for one of the songs, I can get below share links
<iframe src=”https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/1iSqfoUFnQwV0QW1EfUit8″ width=”300″ height=”380″ frameborder=”0″ allowtransparency=”true” allow=”encrypted-media”></iframe>
The part we need is https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/1iSqfoUFnQwV0QW1EfUit8. By clicking on the link, it takes you to the short version of the song.
So, there are two parts of the link, the url prefix ‘https://open.spotify.com/embed/track’ and the Spotify ID of the song ‘1iSqfoUFnQwV0QW1EfUit8’. By using Spotify API, you should already have the Spotify API. In case you don’t have the API yet, you can check out the API documentations here,
The next step is to create a calculation to concatenate ‘https://open.spotify.com/embed/track/’ with the Spotify track ID.
Interesting fact is you can get the audio features for songs and create radar chart like below.
Here is the complete view of my visualization.
