Welcome back to final exciting challenge of Dashboard exploration! This time, we’re delving into a comprehensive dataset that provides a fascinating glimpse into the USA jail system, ranging from county jails to federal prisons. Buckle up as we dig deep into the numbers to uncover intriguing insights and correlations.

1. Gathering and Exploring the Data

Our journey began with a thorough exploration of the dataset using Alteryx. While the initial dataset contained several fields, we realized that we could enhance our analysis by incorporating external data, specifically focusing on unemployment and poverty rates in relation to the number of jail admissions. With this goal in mind, we created a workflow in Alteryx to clean the data and seamlessly integrate this crucial information.

2. Analysis: Finding Patterns and Correlations

In Tableau, we began by creating a series of insightful charts to visually explore relationships between different variables. The scatter plots we designed allowed us to understand the relationship between jail admission percentages and the levels of poverty and employment. These visualizations proved to be enlightening, shedding light on potential connections that we’ll further explore.

Additionally, we ventured into mapping the states with high employment rates and those struggling with higher poverty levels. The map visualizations helped us grasp geographical patterns and disparities, adding another layer to our understanding of the jail statistics.

3. Building the Dashboard: Putting It All Together

Now comes the exciting part – building the dashboard! We carefully selected the most meaningful visualizations and insights to create a comprehensive and easy-to-digest dashboard. The data-driven story we uncovered is presented in a user-friendly format, allowing you to explore the relationships, trends, and patterns we discovered.

For a more immersive experience and to dive deeper into the findings, we invite you to watch the accompanying video. It provides additional context and explanations, enhancing your understanding of the USA jail system and the intriguing correlations we uncovered.
