Parameters:
Parameters are dynamic values that can replace constant values in calculations, filters, and reference lines.
There are four steps to creating and using a parameter.
Step 1:
Create Parameter: We can create parameter in couple of ways. Go to data pane and choose “Create Parameter” which you can see in the picture below.
Step 2:
Show Parameter Control: Right-click on the desired parameter in your Parameters section of your Data pane. Select Show Parameter Control, and your parameter control will appear in your visualization just like a filter control:
Step 3:
Use Parameter in Calculation Field: There are a lot of different ways to use parameters. We can use parameters in filters, bins, reference lines, calculated fields. To use a parameter in a calculation field, drag the parameter from the Data pane and drop it in the calculation filed.
Step 4:
Use Calculation Field in Your View: This is most important step. We must use the parameter in view other otherwise it won’t affect the visualization.
