Welcome to my blog

Before I start hammering my keyboard sharing my experiences, you might be asking who is Renan Barbosa, Don’t you? Let’s begin presenting myself first, I m Renan Freitas Barbosa from São Paulo, Brazil, and not different from many Brazilians, I m a fanatic for football and Jiu-Jitsu. In fact, I love all kinds of sports, and I moved to Sydney in 2019. I also had been to Australia before in 2011 in Brisbane(I love this city). After a quick presentation, let’s jump onto my experience after 2 months at The Data School Down Under.

I recently started a new job as a data consultant at The Data School Down Under and wanted to share my experience of 2 months. In this blog post, I’ll be sharing the challenges I faced, the things I learned, and my thoughts on the future. Follow my journey as I learn and improve my skills as a data consultant at The Data School Down Under.

As I embark on my journey as a data consultant at The Data School Down Under, I am struck by the well-prepared and organized nature of the team. During my first week on the job, our coach provided us with all the materials we needed to get started on our 28-month program focused on learning and hands-on experience. During the first 16 weeks, we will be fully immersed in the learning program, and I am excited to dive in and start learning as much as I can.

One of the things we learned about on our first day was the importance of proper dashboarding and visualization. Our coach emphasized the importance of planning and design, and we were even taught a simple but effective technique for sketching out our dashboard designs on paper before implementing them. This was really helpful for me because it gave me a clear roadmap to follow as I worked on my projects.

In addition to the structured learning program, we also have the opportunity to learn from our colleagues through regular presentations on Fridays. These presentations are actually tasks that we are given to complete during the first half of the day, in order to put into practice what we have learned. The presentations cover the topics related to what we have learnt during the week prior to Friday. I find it to be incredibly informative and useful to become a complete data consultant at the end of this program. I am looking forward to continuing these presentations every Friday for the next 16 weeks as I continue to learn and grow as a data consultant. Overall, my experience at The Data School Down Under has been full of learning and growth, and I am excited to see what the future holds as I continue on this journey.

As I begin my journey as a data consultant at The Data School Down Under, I am excited to learn and grow in this fast-paced and constantly evolving field. I am grateful to be a part of the DSAU18 cohort, to have joined MIP/The Data School Down under, and to have the best coach Bethany guiding us in this new universe. I am looking forward to the structured learning program and hands-on experience that the next 28 months have in store for me. Thank you for following along on my journey as a data consultant at The Data School Down Under.

Note: Stay tuned, because I will start to share some Tableau Techniques. (I love Tableau)
