Introduction

I love to write in Markdown for a couple of reasons. First of all, when you write using a markup language it will save you time by getting rid of the process of manually going through the toolbar to visually format the look of your article. Secondly, writing using a syntax that is very easy to read and extend, Markdown has grown in popularity in Web applications. Used from Documentation to Blog posts it’s hard to find a web-based application which is not utilising the power and speed of Markdown. Lastly, all for format for the look of your text will be done automatically.

Learning Curve

Markdown is just so easy to learn and there are many cheatsheets to get you started. Once you get the hang of it, writing Markdown becomes second nature.

How to

  1. Go to this website markdowntohtml
  2. You will write your content using Markdown on the left box. Then a preview will be displayed on the right
  3. Click Raw HTML on top of the right box, copy the content in that box.
  4. Go to your WordPress editor, on the top left corner of your editor, select Text tag, paste the content you just copied in the editor. Then select Visual tag next to it.

You are done. No more manually formatting your content.

Final thought

I personally think using the available default format toolbar will decrease your speed dramatically. You might find that the method I have just shown you is very complicated. But when you get the hang of it you won’t be able to go back to the old way, or even using Word is just too slow for you.
