Boring with creating normal bar charts? A bar chart with a customized shape could be an option.

If you want to create a bar chart with a customized shape, the first step is to determine the color of your dashboard background. In this example, I choose the color as shown in the following picture.

Then the next step is to find the shape that you want your bar chart to be shown(the shape usually pairs with your dashboard topic). In this example, I choose the shape of the bottle.

After selecting the shape, you need to add a background to your shape. The background color should be the same as your dashboard background.

Before you save the shape image, you need to edit the image to make the internal part of your shape transparent.

After that, you need to create a bar chart and add it to your dashboard.

At last, inset the image to your dashboard and make sure the image is shown above the bar chart.

You make it! The bar chart with customized shapes is interesting.

There are two things, however, you might need to take care. Firstly, due to the floating feature of this chart, it might result in a formatting issue when you upload the workbook to tableau public or send it to someone else.

Secondly, take care of the image resolution before you insert it into your dashboard. The performance of your dashboard could be negatively influenced if your image resolution is too big or if you use it many times in your dashboard.
