Alteryx is a very powerful and leading alternative to coding when it comes to preparing and analyzing data.

If you are new to Alteryx and want to know to easiest and quickest way to get a grip on this software, the obvious first step is to familiarize yourself with the Alteryx interface and then dive into dragging your first tool from the Favorites tool Palettes. But to understand the different components of the tool, just type the tool name in the search box on the upper right corner of your Alteryx Designer interface.

Let’s understand this using an example. Let’s say I want to understand how the Filter tool works.

You can find the Filter tool either on your Favorites palette or from the Preparation palette.

Now, in the search box on the upper right corner of your Alteryx Designer interface, type “Filter”.Here, you can either look for some help in the community. But we will click the “Filter tool” link in the help section.

You will be redirected to the Alteryx help website. Here, you will find everything you want to know about the tool. You may wish to see examples to understand the different features of the tool. This gives you a better understanding of how the tool works. You will also find different tool components to understand how they can be used.

For someone who has some experience using Alteryx and wants a quick recap or for a new student who wants to have a quick idea about the tool can simply click on the tool and then click on an open example.

Which will take you here. This opens a pre-built workflow. Just hit run and navigate each example.

Now you are ready to start your journey of Alteryx. Good luck.
