Daniel Yam
Daniel has a master’s degree in Egyptology from the University of Birmingham, and a bachelor’s degree in Ancient History from Macquarie University. He decided to switch career paths to data analysis following encouragement from a friend who had also made a similar career change and discovered his own love and passion for presenting insights in a visually appealing format. Since relocating back to Sydney, he has applied and joined The Data School in order to pursue this new dream.
In his spare time, he enjoys watching his football team lose miserably and painting tiny miniatures for his self-satisfaction.
Using CROSSFILTER and USERELATIONSHIP in PowerBI
DAX is HARD Another Friday, another day of infinite struggle. To say DAX is not beginner friendly would perhaps be a huge understatement, and while there was a public holiday between days of training, it was still just as brutal. Fortunately, in the mass of...
How to Generate Good Data in Mockaroo
For our final week in training at The Data School, we had the opportunity to create our own datasets to answer a question of our own choosing using Mockaroo. This is a fantastic website that can be really tweaked in any way you want, especially in practicing creating...
How to Prepare for a Teaching Session
A few weeks have passed since we were given the opportunity to teach a free session open to the public as part of the Learn What the Data School Learns (LWTDSL) initiative. Predictably, our manager assigned us all topics we were unfamiliar or uncomfortable with as a...
